Over the past five years, Dr Sean Cao has continued to provide excellent service to patients with liver, bile duct, and pancreas diseases. Dr. Cao received his medical education and research experience at State University of New York at Buffalo and completed the general surgery training at the University of California, Davis/East Bay. He then spent three years at Stanford University Medical Center, where he completed a fellowship in multi-organ transplantation, with special focus on liver transplantation as well as hepatobiliary/pancreas surgery. Prior to starting the Hepatobiliary/Pancreas Surgery Center in July 2004, Dr. Cao was the associate professor in the Department of Surgery and chief of Division of Transplantation at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center. He performed the first simultaneous kidney/pancreas transplantation in Orange County in April 2000. Dr. Cao is recognized by the prestigious Best Doctors, Inc. as one of their “Best Doctors in America”.
He primarily focuses his services on performing surgery of the pancreas, liver and the bile duct, and over the years has involved in applying cutting-edge technology to liver and pancreas surgeries. He has been invited to and visited several countries for his surgical expertise. To better serve the Orange County community and the surrounding areas, Dr. Cao has attending privileges at many different medical centers. He is the preferred specialist surgeon for liver, bile duct, and pancreas diseases with all major health care providers in Orange County and beyond.
